SRINAGAR: Police Thursday booked four shopkeepers in Harwan market here for violating the Essential Commodities Act.
An official handout issued here a police party led by SHO Police Station Harwan, booked Mohammad Rajab Ganie of Batpora Tailbal, Ghulam Qadir Sofi of Merakbal Shalimar, Shabir Ahmad Wani of Pulwama, and Tariq Ahmad Wani of Shalimar during inspection of the market.
They were booked on “charges of violation of Essential Commodities Act”, it said.
Harwan police has registered cases under section 3/7 of the Act and investigation has been taken up, it added.
Meanwhile, police booked a petrol pump owner in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
In a handout issued separately, police said it the owner for “overcharging and under dispensing” fuel to the consumers.
The District Police authorities said in the statement that a consumer, Umer Sayad resident of Meliyal Kupwara, lodged a complaint against the Petrol Pump in Kralpora police station.
The Police Station registered a case under section 3/7 EC Act and investigation was taken up, they said.
