‘Process initiated to acquire land for gas pipeline’

SRINAGAR: The government has initiated the process for acquiring users’ right for setting up the Bhatinda-Jammu-Srinagar gas pipeline.
“Proceedings for acquiring users’ rights have been initiated by Assistant Commissioner Revenue of Kathua and Samba districts,” Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said in reply to a question by Ajay Kumar Sadhotra in the Legislative Council Thursday.
The process for land acquisition and required No Objection Certificates for the project will be hastened in due course of time, he said, adding the project is being implemented by GSPL India Gasnet Limited (GIGL) of Gujarat—a consortium of oil companies—and all expenses on laying of gas pipeline will be borne by them.
