Two die, eight injured in road accidents

Srinagar: Two persons died while eight others were injured in different road accidents across the Valley on Wednesday.

In a statement, a police spokesman said that an Alto car hit a pedestrian Abdul Rashid son of Abdul Aziz at Buchoo, in the Pattan, resulting in his on spot death.

Police has registered a case in this regard, the spokesman said.

He further said that a Maruti A-star car skidded off the road and rammed into a poplar tree at Choora, Sopore, resulting in injuries to 05 persons.

The spokesman said all the injured were shifted to hospital for treatment. “Among the injured Juneed-ul-Islam son of Bashir Ahmad Tantary resident of Sangrama succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital.”

He further said that in another accident, a Load Carrier-407 vehicle injured a pedestrian Ghulam Hassan Joo of Tangdar at present Gulshan Nagar, Nowgam.

The injured was shifted to hospital for treatment. Srinagar police has registered a case in this regard, he said adding that an unknown Maruti car hit and injured a 07-year-old girl Zenab daughter of Gulzar Ahmad Khan at Sulkote, Kupwara. The injured was shifted to SKIMS Soura, Srinagar for treatment.
