SRINAGAR: The authorities Wednesday fined four non-local dealers over violation of norms.
According to Deputy Director Legal Metrology Department (LMD), the accused hardware/paint dealers were fined Rs 23,000 for violating “labeling norms” of their products.
The penalized dealers included Pioneer Hardwares and Prem Brush Factory of Delhi, Raina of Jammu, and RSV Industries of Jalandhar.
Under Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011 every packaged hardware or paint product must carry on the label mandatory declarations such as MRP, net contents, date of manufacture or packing, name of commodity in the package, complete address of the manufacturer with e-mail address and consumer grievance phone number.
The department said the consumers have complained that the hardware/paint products offered for sale in the retail markets here do not adhere to labeling requirements.
