Baramulla: Six more houses where damaged due to landslides in several villages of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday.
Officials said that landslides hit and damaged two dozen houses in different villages in Kandi area of the district from last week. “Six more houses were completely damaged on Tuesday night when a portion of landslide hit these structures at in Frasthar village,” they said.
The officials added that dozens of other structures have been declared lying in the danger zone. “ The trapped families were rescued by other villagers, “they said.
Tehsildar Baramulla, Nazir Ahmad Shah told Kashmir Reader that said a team of officials headed by assistant commissioner Revenue department visited the affected villages and distributed relief material among the victims. “ Rice, kitchen sets, blankets, tents, and other essential commodities were distributed among the affected families,” he said.
He said some of the affected families have been shifted to nearby Panchayat Ghar and the school buildings.
Meanwhile, reports also said that Baramulla-Mamblen Malpora, Chandosa-Shamlaren, Shirpora roads has been closed down by the authorities after these were damaged due to landslides.
Pertinently, seven residential houses and some cowsheds were completely damaged in Laridora village while as one person died due to heart attack in Chandosa when a landslide hit his house on Tuesday.
