SRINAGAR: An Employment Fair was held Wednesday in Rajouri district of Jammu region.
District Development Commissioner Rajouri Deepti Uppal inaugurated the “mega” event dedicated to welfare of the girl child.
The Fair was organised at Sunderbani by the Employment and Counselling Centre of the district.
Stressing on the need to promote self-employment, Uppal said the unemployed, educated youth should avail the benefits of self-employment schemes started by the state government and New Delhi.
She said the youth shall establish their own income-generating units to become “job providers” rather than “job seekers”.
“This region has enormous potential, and the unemployed, educated youth shall adopt entrepreneurship as career prospective and establish their businesses,” she said.
Over 50 stalls were installed by all the line departments at the Fair to create awareness among participating youth about the various sponsored schemes.
As per the official figures, about 200 unemployed, educated youths per block applied for screening test under UDAAN scheme.
