Passengers can now reserve train tickets before 4 months

SRINAGAR: In a bid to provide relief to passengers, the Ministry of Railways, Government of India (GoI), Tuesday has announced introduction of Advance Reservation Period (ARP) for booking of railway tickets.
Under the ARP facility, the pre-date booking period has been increased from existing 60 days to 120 days (excluding the date of journey) with effect from April 1, an official handout said.
In his Railway Budget speech in Lok Sabha earlier, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu had said advance reservation period will be extended from 60 days at present to 120 days to check the rising menace of touts.
