JAMMU: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Choudhary Zulfkar Ali assured that Consumer forums will be refurbished and appellant powers will be delegated at divisional and districts level on war footing to make them more effective.
This he said will ensure early redressal of consumer’s grievances at block and district levels, he maintained.
The Minister was addressing a function organized by the Legal Metrology and CAPD Departments to mark World Consumer’s Day here today.
Reaffirming the government commitment to provide better services, the Minister said that department will leave no stone unturned to ensure quality service to the people at their door steps.
He said that consumer interest shall be protected by infusing accountability and efficiency in the system, so that buyers get their due for money in terms of quality and quantity.
The Minister impressed upon the consumer fraternity to be extra vigilant about their rights to enjoy the benefit of laws and acts meant for their protection and welfare and in this connection asked the authorities to aware the consumers about their rights and duties by holding awareness camps in urban as well as rural areas.
