Traders fined Rs 5,800 for selling substandard goods

Pampore: The authorities Saturday held a market checking drive in Pampore town of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Joint teams of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department (CAPD), Municipal Committee Pampore, Revenue, and Police took part in the drive against the shopkeepers indulging in sale of substandard essential goods.
A large quantity of substandard vegetables, fruits, and milk was destroyed on spot while a fine of Rs 5,800 was imposed on the erring traders.
The offenders were warned of stringent action in case they continued the malpractice.
