SRINAGAR: To promote ‘golf tourism’, Royal Spring Golf Course (RSGC) in association with Jammu and Kashmir Tourism (JKT), Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC), Taj group of Hotels and Indigo Airlines Saturday hosted a group of travel agents here.
MD JKTDC Farooq Ahmad Shah, RSGC Secretary Nuzhat Gul, General Manager Vivanta Shekhar Walavalkar and its Director Marketing Bashart were present during the interaction with the agents who were on Familiarization (Fam) Tour.
Speaking at the event, Walavalkar said, “The Taj group has always endeavoured to promote Tourism in the Valley and this (interaction) is one of the initiatives taken to showcase the destination over all to some of the top travel agents from Delhi and the sales and marketing teams of Taj group and Indigo airline.”
MD JKTDC said that “special packages” are on offer to attract the tourists in the lean season from March 25 to April 25, and from September 15 to November 15 this year.
The package, Shah said, would include opportunities to play at Royal Spring and at the Golf Courses in Pahalgam and Gulmarg and at the huts of JKTDC. Nuzhat Gul told the visitors that an “aggressive marketing campaigns” have already been started in Delhi and Mumbai, offering “stay and play at RSGC” packages to interested tourists.
“We are getting huge responses and inquiries about the same for this season,” she said.
About the Fam Tour, she said the RSGC got the opportunity to showcase the golf course and its facilities to the tour operators who can promote “destination tourism” and the golf course in domestic and international markets.
