SRINAGAR: State Congress president Ghulam Ahmad Mir Saturday asked the BJP-PDP government to free political prisoners after proper screening and refrain from ‘selective’ release of the detainees.
He said Masrat Alam’s release was likely to affect prospects of other prisoners. “It (Alam’s release) was a political stunt played by the PDP,” Mir said on the sidelines of a party function here.
Addressing party workers, Mir said the collation government between PDP and BJP was fragile and may not last long.
“We believe that the coalition government will not last long in the state, for the two partners are more involved in creating controversies than addressing public issues,” he said while hinting towards controversies on Masrat Alam’s release and Mufti Mohammad Sayeed crediting Pakistan and Hurriyat Conference for smooth conduct of polls in JK.
