srinagar: Agriculture Department Saturday organised an Agricultural Exhibition or Kisan Mela in Ramban district of Jammu region.
An official handout issued here said the event, inaugurated by MLA Neelam Langeh, was organised to attract the unemployed youth of the district towards the “activities with income generating potential”.
The MLA asked the departments to focus on public awareness vis-à-vis government schemes, “so that the benefit can reach to the deserved”, it said.
“He exhorted upon the Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Sericulture and other line departments to hold such awareness camps in future also for improving the per capita income of the district,” it added.
Various departments, which have been covered by the government under employment-generating schemes, established their stalls and displayed their products on the occasion, it said.
The representatives of the different departments and institutions like Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries, Horticulture, Agriculture, Sericulture, J&K Bank, Army, Handicrafts, Handlooms and Social Welfare interacted with the youth and informed them about the schemes, it said.
