SRINAGAR: Eight burglars were arrested in Ganderbal and stolen goods worth lakhs of rupees recovered on their instance, police said Saturday.
A SIT headed by SHO Ganderbal Asif Iqbal was constituted following several burglaries in the central Kashmir district in the last few months, a police spokesman said.
“The police team arrested two burglars Imtiyaz Ahmad Ganai son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Shallabugh, Ganderbal and Adil Ahmad Sofi son of Mohammad Afzal resident of Gund Roshan. On their instances stolen goods including geysers, inverter, batteries, stabilizers, copper utensils, gas cylinders and other electronic items worth lacs of rupees were recovered,” the spokesman said.
The SIT also cracked another burglary case after arresting Hafiz-ul-lah Ganie son of Mohammad Sultan resident of Shallabugh while police station Safapora arrested five persons who were spotted by a night patrolling team while traveling in a load carrier during night hours and recovered a Generator from their possession.
During investigation it surfaced that they had stolen the generator from a hotel in Srinagar. The arrested burglars were identified as Mudasir Ahmed Malik son of Ghulam Hassan Malik, Javed Ahmed Mir son of Gaffar Mir, Majaz Ahmed Mir son of Gaffar Mir, Imtiyaz Khan son of Ghulam Ahmad and Reyaz Khan son of Maqbool Khan, all residents of Bandipora.
