SRINAGAR: A two-day placement drive for unemployed, educated youth of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district was inaugurated Saturday.
The event has been organised by the National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) in collaboration with District Employment and Counselling Centre under project UDAAN, an official handout issued here said.
About 11 corporate firms from across India are participating in the event for “on-spot recruitment” of the educated, unemployed youth, it said, adding the placement drive “is part of a series of mega selection (events) in J&K state to promote fresh talent under project UDAAN”.
“About 116 educated youth were registered and interviewed today as well. The final list of shortlisted candidates will be announced tomorrow after the conclusion of the drive,” it said.
According to the handout, District Development Commissioner Ganderbal also interacted with the candidates and representatives of the corporate houses.
“He expressed satisfaction over the conduct of the placement drive and told the organisers to hold such drives in the district in future as well,” it said.
