Sonawari residents complain of water logging

Bandipora: The residents of Baharabad, Sonawari in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district Friday complained of severe water logging in the locality.
The residents said that they were facing immense hardship due to water-logging.
“Due to poor drainage systems water overflows the roads and inner links which in turn leave these roads inundated and dilapidated,” they said
“We can’t go outside as water is everywhere, “Mohammad Aslam, a local, told Kashmir Reader.
The excess water has not only deluged the streets but has entered the Orchards as well, the residents said.
“We want to bring to the notice of administration that we have been suffering a lot due to water logging in the area. Water is inside our houses and in our orchards too,” they added.
They threatened to come on road if the government fails to address the problem.
When contacted to SDM Sumbal, GhulamMohammad Bhat acknowledged that the residents were facing problems due to water logging.
He said that he will take up the issue with the higher authorities.
He further said that dewatering process has been started in the area.
