Amid strike, postal GDS employees stage protest

Doda: Postal Grameen Dak Sewak (GDS) employees in this district of Jammu region Friday staged protests for their demands even as their strike, observed under the banner of All India Postal Grameen Dak Sewaks (GDS) Employees Union, entered the fourth day.
Hundreds of GDS employees assembled outside the local Post Office here, staging protest demonstrations in support of their demands.
GDS employees have been on an indefinite strike across India since March 10 to demand regularization and their inclusion in the seventh central pay commission.
Addressing the protesting employees, Bashir Ahmed Lone, President of the union’s Doda sub-division chapter, reiterated the demands.
Urging the authorities concerned to take up the issue with government of India, he said “it is unfortunate that the government is not sincere towards the genuine demands of 3, 30,000 GDS postal employees across the country.”
The other employees’ leaders who were leading the protest include Sunil Kumar and Chuni Lal.
