SRINAGAR: The government Wednesday asked the agencies to initiate lateral expansion of the upcoming Bhatinda-Jammu- Srinagar Gas Pipeline.
The instructions were given by the Minister for CAPD and Tribal Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, while reviewing the progress of the ambitious project in a meeting held at Jammu.
“…Initiate the process of lateral expansion of gas pipeline in all areas enrooting the project which (will) ultimately ensure linkage of each household within round the clock supply line,” he told the agencies.
Asking to ensure that the land acquisition processes is completed immediately, he asked the concerned Deputy Commissioners to regularly monitor status of the works to ensure that bottlenecks impeding the project implementation are removed in time.
Successful completion of the project, he said, will provide a reliable energy source, which will “fuel economic growth and invest-ment, and develop industries”.
“It will also overcome shortage of LPG and provide an affordable alternative to the consumers. It will bear a positive impact on the State Power and Transport sector…,” he said.
Zulfkar maintained that “synergy” between the executing agencies and line departments is vital for smooth implementation of the projects.
He asked the concerned agencies to work in “close coordination”, so that there are no “undue delays” for want of requisite clearances from the concerned departments.
