Srinagar: “Former SSP Srinagar Ashiq Bukhari’s claims that he was given money by former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to kill me offers an insight into the working of governments in the state,” Muslim League chairman Masrat Alam said Wednesday.
“Had we made such revelations, the state would have dismissed it as rubbish. But now the beans have been spilled by none other than a notorious police officer,” Alam told Kashmir Reader.
Alam said even as NC has rejected Bukhari’s claims as baseless, they were the ones who appointed Bukhari in 2010. “It was the same National Conference who brought Bukhari to quell the mass uprising in 2010. Bukhari was supervising the whole operation against protesting youths. The NC is responsible for every killing that happened during the uprising,” he said.
The Muslim League chief said he does not fear death. “Thousands have sacrificed their lives for the cause and Masrat Alam is no different than them. I am ready to face death in pursuance of freedom. Even if he (Bukhari) had killed me that day when he arrested me, it would have not changed my stand even an ounce,” Alam told Kashmir Reader.
