Srinagar: At least four persons including a female were injured in a bear attack in Jagarpora village of Handwara area of North Kashmir’s in Kupwara on Tuesday.
Reports said that a bear appeared on the outskirts of the village on Tuesday morning and attacked the residents who were collecting wild vegetables at the nearby forest.
Medical Superintendent Sub-district hospital Handwara Dr Rouf told Kashmir Reader that the condition of all the injured persons was given necessary treatment and their condition was stable now.
Notably, there has been an increase in the presence of wild animals in the human habitats in the area as recently a bear with her two cubs was seen near the primary health centre Kangroosa Rafiabad in Baramulla.
Meanwhile, the wildlife warden north Kashmir Mohammad Sadiq said that a team of officials was deputed to the area to catch the bear who injured the four persons, however, the bear managed to escape from the spot.
