SRINAGAR: At least 1,000 girls have so far received scholarships under Fair & Lovely Foundation initiative.
“For the last 10 editions, the foundation conferred scholarships to more than 1,000 girls to help them break the socioeconomic barriers and head towards self-reliance and economic empowerment,” a press statement issued here said Tuesday.
Fair & Lovely Foundation is an initiative of Fair & Lovely, a brand from Hindustan Unilever Limited, it said, adding that, for more than a decade, it has been “successfully transforming the lives of deserving girls by awarding them with scholarships up to Rs one lakh and highlighting the need of self-reliance and economic empowerment”.
Currently in its eleventh edition, Fair & Lovely Foundation has reached the “critical phase” of its countrywide process of conducting interviews, it said.
Fair & Lovely scholarships are awarded to women with aptitude, a strong drive to succeed, and to those who want to build an identity for themselves, it said, adding the scholarships of up to Rs 1, 00,000 are awarded to the deserving young girls from across the country. This year, it said, the initiative received an overwhelming response from more than 10, 000 girls from various parts of the country.
These interviews will be held in four or five other regions including Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Lucknow, it added.

He thanked the panel of experts that has helped the company in its selecting the candidates.
