Srinagar: Vodafone India Sunday organised a workshop for women in the state in connection with the International Women’s Day.
In a press statement issued here, the company’s J&K circle said it took a “holistic approach” to celebrate the Day.
“To empower women physically, Vodafone organised a self- defense and fitness workshop for its women customers…,” it said. “The workshop was held at Jammu with an aim to empower the women with the physical skills required to protect themselves when facing an adverse and unpleasant situation.”
The workshop was conducted by Aarti Mahajan, a Reebok and Doonya-certified trainer and proprietor of a Fitness Club, it said.
The company said it also organised a panel discussion on ‘Role of Women Professionals in Development of J&K’ on March 4 in which the eminent women professionals from the state shared their ideas.
Prof Poonam Dhawan, Director Lifelong Learning Department of Jammu University, and Dr Indu Khuda, Head of the Gynecology Department at Government Medical College Jammu, were among thje prominent women who participated in the event, it said.
