Srinagar: Dukhtaran-e-Millat chief Syeda Asiya Andrabi Sunday she was not hopeful that her husband Dr Qasim Faktoo would be freed by the new dispensation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr Qasim who is undergoing detention from the last 22 years is jailed “sans any logic as there is no serious charge against him,” Andrabi told a local news agency.
She said that in the past, such speculations turned out to be “blatant lies.”
“As far as the release of my husband is concerned, I don’t think he will be released. Last year the reports also came in about Dr Qasim’s release. Electronic media came to my house and conducted interviews. I at that time had stated that movement is supreme than any person’s release. I don’t believe in such announcements,” she said.
However, Asiya was quick to add that despite all the propaganda against her husband, if Allah wishes no one could stop Dr Qasim’s release. “It is no less than a torture for me that my relatives and known ones call me on phone and congratulate me that Dr Sahib will be released in near future. It pains me within as I know and am used to such gimmicks of the governments,” she said.
