PDP has completely surrendered to BJP: Rashid

Srinagar: Awami Itihaad Party president and MLA-elect from Langate, Engineer Rashid Sunday termed the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) between PDP and BJP as a complete “surrender by PDP.”
In a statement, Rashid said, “Be it the issue of granting citizenship rights to West Pakistan Refugees (WPRs) or the revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) the PDP seems to have completely surrendered before the Saffron brigade’s agenda.”
He said that the CMP issued by the alliance partners clearly indicates that “PDP has compromised on everything for the sake of power.”
“If they are eager to grant citizenship to WPRs, then why aren’t they implementing the resettlement bill in letter and spirit for those who were driven out of their homes in 1947 to Pakistan administered Kashmir.”
He said that any unilateral step to grant citizenship rights to WPRs would be opposed tooth and nail by his party.
Rashid added that Pakistan, militants or Hurriyat don’t need PDP’s help to resume the dialogue with India. “In fact these dialogue processes have yielded nothing except diluting the basics of Kashmir’s disputed nature and strengthening New Delhi’s viewpoint here,” he said.
“Mufti owes an urgent explanation to people of state,” he added.
He said that PDP’s alliance with BJP wasn’t a “merger of opposite poles.” “It is like a very small stream joining a muddy river and culminating into its ultimate origin.”
