British Woman’s Murder: Court summons 4 witnesses

Srinagar: A trial court here on Saturday issued summons to four witnesses even as it recorded the deposition of another witness in a case relating to the murder of a young British woman here in 2013.
Police has already arrested a Dutchman, Richard de Wit, for allegedly murdering the 24-year-old British tourist, Sara Elizabeth Grooves inside a houseboat at Dalgate here on April 6, 2013.
Among the four witnesses summoned by the court include the houseboat owner’s son and friend of the victim Sarah Groves, Saeed Ahmad Shoda, a lawyer associated with the case said.
The court, Principal District and Sessions Judge Srinagar, also recorded deposition of Farooq Ahmad, who is witness to “seizure memo”.
Richard was arrested from the main town Qazigund when he was allegedly trying to escape. After filing a case (FIR No. 40/2013) at police station Ram Munshi Bagh, the police found him guilty of the crime and accordingly filed the charge sheet.
