Srinagar: The experts Saturday asked the farmers in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district to develop apiculture for employment generation in the area.
“The farmers were inspired by the experts to go for apiculture development that is rearing of honey bee colonies in modern lines in order to generate employment for the unemployed populace, besides giving a fillip to the fruit production by enhancing pollination through honey bees,” a press statement issued here quoted the experts saying in an awareness camp organized in Arin Bandipora.
It said the camp was organised by the Agriculture department in connection with the National Mission on Substantial Agriculture (NMSA).
Farmers from Arin and its adjoining villages participated in the camp, it added.
The focus of the training was sustainable agriculture development in backdrop of the depleting natural resources and measures required to conserve these resources, the statement said, adding that the Chief Agriculture Officer of the district and his team of officers and allied departments gave “in-depth information regarding modern technologies developed to harness more productivity per unit area from the marginal land left with farmers.”
