SRINAGAR: A State Level Workshop was Thursday organised in Jammu under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).
An official handout issued said the programme workshop was organised by the Jammu and Kashmir State Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) in collaboration with Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) New Delhi, and District Industries Centre (DIC) Jammu.
Financial Commissioner Industries and Commerce, Khursheed Ahmad Ganai inaugurated the workshop while Secretary in Industries and Commerce Surabh Bhagat was the guest of honour on the occasion, it said.
Speaking on the occasion, Ganai said the “aim and objective of the workshop is to provide a platform to the entrepreneurs, bankers, senior officers of I&C, KVIB and KVIC to share their views through an open house regarding the schemes in vogue and the techniques for implementing the same effectively,” the handout said.
State Director KVIC V S Babul stressed upon the need for “the state government’s functionaries to go through various rules and regulations strictly issued by the commission from time to time for better implementation of the schemes,” it added.
Secretary KVIB Mir Afroz, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Board, gave a “detailed resume of the activities of the Board,” it said.
“Our stress is to reach women folk especially those living in remote rural areas and aware them about the programmes and schemes being implemented,” he was quoted as saying.
