Driest winter since 1980

Srinagar: The Valley is witnessing dry spell these days, despite being in the midst of the Chillai Kalan, after a gap of over 30 years, the weatherman said Thursday.
“It was last time in 1980 when the Valley witnessed such a dry winter,” director Metrological Department Sonum Lotus told Kashmir Reader.
At 7 mm, the lowest snowfall was recorded in 2007, and this year it’s down to 4 mm, he said.
