SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) has been awarded as the second best organization in the entrepreneurial and self-employment space in India.
The institute has become the first in the state to win the award by India’s leading industry lobby, Assocham.
Director JKEDI M I Parray received the silver award in the category “Best Organisation Encouraging Entrepreneurship in MSME” at an event in Delhi’s Le-Meridien hotel which was attended by who’s who of Indian business community.
“It is a great honor for our institute to receive the award,” JKEDI Director said, describing milestones the institute has achieved since its inception.
The director recalled and offered special gratitude to the state government for its “whole hog support to JKEDI in its endeavor to battle the monster of unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir”.
JKEDI is a Jammu and Kashmir government organization. In a statement issued here, the institute said it has carved a niche for itself in the entrepreneurship development arena of the country.
The institute has so far provided entrepreneurship development training to more than 10,000 candidates and has provided financial and other business support to more than 3,700 entrepreneurs to help them establish their startups, it said.
Almost 90 percent of JKEDI sponsored units are running successfully and many of them are in the advanced stage of their business cycle, it added.
