SRINAGAR: Handloom Development department Monday organised a camp at Deylote in Jammu’s Reasi district to aware weavers and workers about various schemes.
“The publicity-cum-awareness programme was held to aware weavers and ancillary weaving workers about the schemes being implemented for socioeconomic development of the weaving artisans,” a press statement issued here said.
During the camp, the officers of the department asked the weavers to avail benefit of financial package under ‘Weavers Credit Card’ scheme, “so that investment as well as working capital needs of the weavers could be met in flexible and cost-effective manner through NABARD by the Union Ministry of Textile,” it said.
It was informed that the handloom weavers were required to apply in a bank on the prescribed application form to avail the benefits of various schemes launched for their welfare, it said.
The weavers, it said, were assured “every possible” assistance from the Handloom Development department for development of handloom products.
The weavers were asked to register themselves in the department and avail benefit of all available schemes, it said, adding that the experts of the department delivered lectures on different schemes of the department while registration of weavers was also made on the spot.
