Govt forms committee to identify bottlenecks in Saffron Mission

Srinagar: The government Monday constituted a high-level committee to identify “bottlenecks” in implementing Rs 400 crore National Mission on Saffron in the state.
An official handout issued here said the decision was made in a review meeting held at SK University of Agriculture Science and Technology-Kashmir (SKUAST-K) under the Commissioner Secretary Agriculture Production department, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon.
“It was decided that a high-level committee headed by Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-K Dr Tej Pratap shall be constituted with Director Agriculture Kashmir, Managing Director Agro Industries Development Corporation, Director Research SKUAST-K, Chief Engineer, MED, Chief Engineer Irrigation & Flood Control, and Managing Director National Horticulture Board as its members to identify the bottlenecks and suggest ways and means to remove them,” it said.
It said the committee will also “frame a roadmap” for accomplishment of the targets set for various components of the mission within a time frame.”
