Officials warned over further delay in Sopore Bye-Pass bridge

SRINAGAR: District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone Friday stressed timely completion of the Sopore Bye-Pass bridge.
Kashmir Reader had last year re¬ported that the construction of the Sopore-Bye Pass Bridge in north Kash¬mir’s Baramulla district was going on at a snail’s pace for the last two decades.
The Border Roads Organization (BRO), which undertook the project in 1992 but stopped work for for over two years, has missed several dead¬lines in the past.
“The Sopore Bye-Pass bridge span¬ning 216 meters with earlier approved cost of the Project Rs. 996.70 lakhs has been under construction for many years. The District Development Com¬missioner while directing SDM Sopore and Executive Engineer R&B Sopore for speeding up the construction work, impressed upon the said officers to sub¬mit the report on regular basis,” an of-ficial handout issued here said.
“He also warned the concerned of¬ficials of strict action if the project is not completed by March 31,” the handout said.
