Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) Friday said that it will formulate a strategy against the Government of India’s proposed move to settle the West Pakistan Refugees in Jammau and Kashmir, once the party chairman Syed Ali Geelani returns from New Delhi.
In a statement, party spokesman Ayaz Akbar said that by recommending the settlement of these refugees, GoI was “playing with fire” and the pro-freedom amalgam “will resist this move tooth and nail.”
“Nobody will be allowed to damage the Muslim identity and the demography of the state. As soon as Geelani sahib returns from New Delhi, we will discuss this grave issue in detail and formulate a strategy,” he said.
Akbar alleged that “actually RSS had come into power in New Delhi in the shape of Narender Modi government. “
“They are very eager to execute their already set dangerous policies regarding the Kashmir and their actions in haste will set the state on fire,” he added.
Hurriyat (G) spokesman said that the settlement of this refugee in J&K resembles the Israel’s existence in Arab land “which doesn’t have any moral and constitutional justification.” “Holocaust happened in Germany but its punishment was given to the Arabs and a dagger was stabbed in their chest in the shape of Israel. Similarly the punishment of the partition of India and Pakistan is being given to the Kashmiris and it is a conspiracy to make the Kashmiris strangers in their own land,” he said.
“Both India and Pakistan permanently settled the people who moved to these countries at the time of partition and issued citizenship in their favour,” he said.
Akbar said that the Jammu & Kashmir was a different issue. “According to its disputed nature and the law of the land, no citizen of either India or Pakistan can be given citizenship of this state and nor can be anyone permanently settled here,” he said.
“These refugees have no right to become the permanent citizens of J&K.The act of recommending state subjects in their favour and giving them the voting rights in the assembly elections is a mischievous and a deliberate act of Indian parliamentary committee to further destabilize the state,” he alleged.
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz south Kashmir Qazi Yasir Friday said that the GoI’s proposed move to settle the West Pakistan refugees permanently in Jammu and Kashmir was an “attempt to dilute pro-freedom sentiment.”
In a statement, Qazi Yasir said, “Settling these refugees is insulting the very basis of the Indian Constitution itself and such things cannot deter us from pursuing the freedom movement.”
Yasir, who according to the statement was addressing a rally at Anantnag, said that right-wing Hindu parties “want to set Kashmir on fire but the people of Kashmir will give a befitting reply to such elements.”
Earlier, according to the statement, Yasir led a protest rally against the proposed move and against the publishing of blasphemous cartoons in a French Magazine.
