Srinagar: A three-day orientation camp for physically challenged persons concluded here Friday.
In a statement, a spokesman said that the camp was organised by J&K State Social Welfare board in collaboration with J&K Mountaineering and Hiking Club (J&KMHC).
The spokesman said that the camp was flagged-off from Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Rajbagh by Director Social Welfare Department Kashmir, Gazanfar Ali.
He said that on the first day of the camp these persons got an opportunity to visit rock climbing wall in Nowgam where experts demonstrated the procedure for rock climbing. “Out of 60 disabled persons, five attempted to climb the rock wall and two made it to the top, amidst cheers by the onlookers,” he said.
On the second day, the spokesman said, they visited Dachigam National Park.
He said that the valedictory function was held at Gulmarg. He said that the participants also had a joy ride on Gandola Cable Car. Certificates of participation were issued to the participants, the spokesman said.
