Pampore: Two shops were gutted after a petrol tanker Thursday rammed into several electricity poles on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway in Frestabal area of this south Kashmir township.
As per reports, the tanker bearing registration No JK02K- 9347 was coming from Jammu when the driver lost control and rammed it into electricity poles carrying 33000 KV high tension line at 11:30 pm yesterday.
The tanker caught fire which engulfed two nearby shops damaging them completely and power supply to the entire town was also affected.
Residents alleged that the local fire station had ran out of water and fire tenders had to be rushed from Srinagar to douse the blaze.
SHO Pampore Raja Tasleem said that police has registered a case in this regard and launched manhunt to nab the driver who fled from the spot.
