SRINAGAR: Tour operators from Kashmir Valley Wednesday appealed Governor N N Vohra for initiatives to attract the tourists.
A press statement issued here said a three-member delegation led by Rauf Tramboo, President of the Adventure Tour Operators Association of Kashmir (ATOAK), met the Governor at Raj Bhavan in Jammu.
“Tramboo apprised the Governor about the slowdown in the number of tourist arrivals in the state, particularly in the Kashmir Valley, after the floods in September,” it said, adding that he “emphasized the need for the state Tourism department to take all possible initiatives to create the required environment for attracting a large number of tourists in the summer 2015.”
He informed about the ongoing activities of the TAAK for promoting tourism in the state, and also shared his views about bringing new destinations on the state’s tourist map, it added. The other members of the delegation were Khaliq Wangoo, Chapter Chairman of the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) and Nasir Shah, Director Culture and Nature Expeditions (CNE), the statement said
