SRINAGAR: The Directorate of Field Publicity New Delhi Wednesday organised a daylong special awareness programme at Ramban in Jammu division.
The programme, being held under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, focused on three New Delhi-sponsored pan India schemes including Pardhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna (PMJDY), Swatcch Bharat Abhiyan and Beti Bachao-Beti Prao Abhiyan, an official handout issued here said.
District Development Commissioner Farooq Shah Bukhari presided over the function, it added. During the event, it said, it was informed that about 15,000 new bank accounts have been opened in the district under PMJDY.
Lauding the role of the Directorate in enhancing awareness and public involvement, Bukhari urged the participants to join hands in achieving target under the schemes, it said.
Assistant Director of the Directorate Mushtaq Ahmed Tantray highlighted the objective of the programme and called for “endorsing the inclusive development by peoples’ involvement,” it added.
