Pak militant killed in Sopore: police

Baramulla: A Pakistani militant was killed Wednesday in an encounter with government forces in Sopore town of this north Kashmir district, police said.
“The encounter broke out between security forces and the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant who was holed up in a house Chanakhan area of Sopore, following a cordon and search operation,” the police said.
The lone militant was killed after exchanging fire with the forces for nearly six hours, the police said, adding that the slain militant has been identified as Abu Huzaifa.
An AK-47 rifle and some ammunition was recovered from the slain militant, the police added.
Soon after the killing of the militant, many people staged a protest and demanded body of the slain. The protesters also hurled stones towards the forces, reports said.
