4 PDA officials injured as 20 more illegal structures demolished


ANANTNAG: Continuing its demolition drive, Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA) Wednesday raised to ground 20 illegal structures in different areas of Pahalgam. Four officials of the PDA were also injured, two of them critically, during the demolition. Official sources said that the demolition squad of the PDA headed by its CEO rushed to Laripora and demolished several huge sheds which had been erected illegally by the people along Lidder banks. The demolition squad also raised to ground the restaurant constructed illegaly by a hotlier in the backyard of his hotel. “The demolition squad accompanied by the police later rushed to Rinzward area and bulldozed two concrete hut type structures which had been constructed in a non-permissible zone. Several plinth level structures and sheds which were coming up on forest land were also demolished,” they said. Four PDA officials, who were part of the demolition squad were also injured while demolishing a structure. “As the officials were demolishing a huge structure it came down suddenly resulting into the injuries to four of them,” they said. Two of the injured officials were immediately shifted to district hospital Anantnag where they are undergoing treatment. CEO, PDA, M Y Bhat said that a total of 20 small and huge illegal structures were demolished in different areas of the tourist spot.
