Flood-affected food items seized

SRINAGAR: The Food Safety department here Tuesday filed 11 complaints in the court of Additional Deputy Commissioner G A Dar under Food Safety and Standards Act, the department said in a press statement issued here.
It said the samples were lifted mainly from manufacturing units including that of spices, milk products, beverages, and sweets.
The samples were declared sub-standards or misbranded by the Food Analyst Public Health laboratory here, it said.
It said the team of Food Safety Officers here seized “about 430 crates of flood affected juices” from Nowgam area.
About 575 kg of green tea, which carried tampered date of packaging, was also seized from Batmaloo here, it said.
“The samples were sent to the Food Analyst Public Health Laboratory for analysis,” it said.
