ANANTNAG: Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA Tuesday continued with its demolition drive and bulldozed at least nine illegal structures.
Sources said that the demolition squad of PDA headed by its CEO, rushed to Mammal area in Pahalgam and bulldozed at least nine structures. “Three huge structures were near completion while
two others were at plinth level. Besides three huge sheds were also demolished,” the sources said.
The demolition squad also seized a large quantity of wood which was dumped in one of the old structures. Chief executive officer, PDA, M Y Bhat said that all the illegal structures were demolished in the area. “One wonders how the wild life officials had allowed these huge concrete structures to come up in their territory. I will write to the deputy commissioner and honorable court about the conduct of wild life officials posted in the area,” the CEO said.
He said that the drive will continue in the days to come. “I intend to implement the court orders in letter and spirit. I will not allow any illegal structure in my jurisdiction as long as I am here,” the CEO said.
At least 27 illegal structures were demolished by the PDA in different notified in last couple of weeks.
