Srinagar: Nine persons, including two women a nine-year-old boy, were killed Monday while five others were injured in three separate road accidents in the Valley.
Seven persons were killed on the spot after the Sumo (No. JKO9A/2565) they were travelling in collided with a Tata Mobile (No. JKO1W/1652) near Tarzoo, Sopore in Baramulla district. The Sumo was on its way from Kupwara to Srinagar.
The dead were identified as Mohammad Shafi Malik, Naza, Parveiz Ahmad Malik, Abdul Majeed Dar, Dilshad Ahmad Peer, Sara, and Waseem Ahmad Malik. All of them belonged to Trehgam area of Kupwara district.
The injured were identified as Ajaz Ahmad, Farooq Ahmad Najar, Arfat Hussain resident of Trehgam Kupwara, Mohammad Halaf and Mohammad Saleem Akhter. They were shifted to SKIMS, SMHS and JVC hospitals for treatment. Sopore police has registered a case in this regard.
In another accident in Baramulla district, a man identified as Manjit Singh, 50, of Kanlibagh, Baramulla died when a Tata mini bus hit him near Sherwani Hall.
Deputy Inspector General of Police, north Kashmir range, Ghulam Hassan Bhat told Kashmir Reader that case has been registered in both the cases and investigation has been started.
Meanwhile in another accident, a Tipper (No.JK05B/1356) hit a nine-year-old boy Adnan Ahmad Sheikh, son of Sher Ali, of Abi Guzar, Srinagar, at Friends Colony Shalimar, resulting in his on spot death.
