Fire damages Boniyar forest

Baramulla: Wild fire has damaged a large area of forest land in Boniyar, Uri, reports said Friday.
As per reports, the fire that has been going on for last few days appeared in compartment No.55 and has now engulfed the compartment 58 of the forest range.
Dozens of trees have been damaged and the forest department is unable to control the fire, official sources said.
“A large forest area is on fire from past many days. No action is being taken to control the raging fire,” Abdul Majeed, a local told Kashmir Reader.
When contacted Divisional Forest Officer ( DFO) J V Division Baramulla, D P Singh, however, said that fire has been brought under control. “Our men are on the job,” he said.
He denied any damage to the green gold during the fire incident.
