Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Post Graduate Teachers Forum has demanded the filling up of posts of Chief Education Officers (CEOs) lying vacant in various districts across Valley.
The forum has also demanded filling up of the posts of lecturers identified by the department of education. “At least three districts are without CEOs for last one year which has virtually choked the functioning of these CEO offices. The post of DEPO is also lying vacant in Pulwama. We demand these posts be immediately filled,” Shah Zahoor , president of the forum said.
He said that the education department has identified 232 posts for Islamic Studies in Kashmir valley and 128 posts in region years back but was yet to be referred to recruiting agency. “We also demand that the Mass Communication subject be introduced at college and higher secondary level so that the Mass Communication pass- outs should be absorbed,” he added.
He demanded that the contractual lecturers working in colleges and higher secondary schools across the state be continued and their salaries be hiked. “We also urge the authorities to fill up the posts of physical education teachers so that thousands of unemployed youth possessing bachelors and masters in physical education can be engaged,” Zahoor said.
