Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) Thursday expressed serious concern over the escalation of violence on India-Pakistan borders.
In a statement, spokesman said that the amalgam discussed the issue threadbare in a meeting chaired by Mirwiaz Umar Farooq.
He said that during the meeting, the participants stressed upon the leadership of both the countries to exhibit political maturity and farsightedness. “ Both the countries must take measures to prevent the delicate situation from turning out of hand. Leadership of both the countries should shed their confrontational approach and take serious initiatives to solve the issues between them before the situation takes an ugly turn,” the statement quoted the participants as saying.
The spokesman said that the participants urged both countries to resolve the Kashmir dispute on urgent basis according to the political aspirations of Kashmiris. “For peace in the region, Kashmir issue has to be addressed as soon as possible,” the participants opined.
The participants stated that significance and sensitivity of Kashmir issue cannot be diluted by taking support of elections, backdoor politics, or by clash of cultures and identity. “ Hence, the solution of Kashmir on urgent basis becomes inevitable to extricate more than a billion people inhabiting the sub-continent from insecurity and instability towards the path of progress and prosperity in the changing global scenario,” the spokesman quoted the participants as saying.
Meanwhile, South Kashmir Civil Society( SKCS) also expressed serious concern over the continued escalation of tension on LoC between India and Pakistan, forcing hundreds of naive people to migrate from their respective places on either side of the divide.
