Geelani leaves for Delhi for medical check-up

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Wednesday left for New Delhi for  medical check-up.
In a statement, the amalgam’s spokesman Ayaz Akbar said that Geelani is suffering from an enlarged prostate.
“Though enlargement of prostate is common in the old age, keeping in view the different ailments Geelani sahib is suffering from it was decided that he must visit New Delhi for a detailed medical check-up,” he said.
Before his departure, the spokesman said, Geelani while addressing party activists and workers said, “The minorities living in JK are our brothers and are safe with us but under a dangerous plot, the communal forces of India want to disturb this century’s old tradition of brotherhood in Kashmir,” he said.
“To defeat the dangerous designs of the communal forces, the whole nation has to be united. The people with fascist ideologies, who are openly giving inflammable statements against the Muslims and other minorities, will try to disturb the communal thread of the state,” he added.
He said that these communal forces were in search of some “excuse” for attacking the Muslims. “To accomplish this, they can go to any extent. In this situation, the entire Muslim population here must remain united to protect their religion, culture and the Muslim identity,” he said.
Tolerance and the patience is the key to counter the dangerous designs of the Sang Parivar, Geelani said.
