Srinagar: Scores of Female Multipurpose Health Workers (FMHW) Tuesday held a protest here demanding immediate release of their salaries pending since past ten months.
“Our salaries are pending since past ten months. Is the government planning to starve us to death? We demand no charity. We only want what is due to us,” Neelofer Shabir, president FMHWs Association said.
She said that they were suffering due the “callous approach” of government.
“We are not able to pay the school fee of our children. Some of us have been diagnosed with hyper-tension. Government should end this inhuman approach towards us and release our salaries,” she said.
According to Neelofar, salaries of about three thousand FMHWs were pending.
She threatened to launch an agitation if their salaries were not released by January 18. “If our salaries are not released by January 18 we will go for complete strike and will stop working,”she said.
