Sarpanch’s son found dead in Sopore

Baramulla: A Congress sarpanch’s son was found dead Sunday in Sopore area of this north Kashmir district, police said.
The body of Umar Ishaq Mir, 22, son of Mohammad Ishaq Mir, was found near a stream at Nowpora village of the apple town.
Umar had gone missing from his native locality of Tujar on Saturday evening, the police said.
“The youth was possibly kidnapped by someone and later beaten to death. We found multiple injuries on his body,” a police officer told Kashmir Reader. “Some pain killer tablets and syringes were also found near the body,” he said.
The body was taken to sub district hospital Sopore for postmortem and later handed over to the family for last rites.
Umer, according to his family, passed BSC (1st year) examination and was doing his own business.
Police said they are investigating the cause of the death.
