Srinagar: Courage, a Srinagar-based NGO, Sunday distributed relief material among flood-affected people.
In a statement, a spokesman said that event was organised by Sakhawat Centre and the Iqbal Memorial Trust for the flood affected victims.
“This event was third of its kind organised by the Sakhawat Centre and 342 families received cheques worth Rs 5000 and a relief kit each,” he said.
The Courage sponsored the necessary amount for 10 families in the event.
The spokesman said that the NGO also distributed eatables to the families at the Lepers’ Colony on January 3.
“It was a small step by the NGO in the larger scheme of making Kashmir a better and safer place to live in for its inhabitants,” the statement quoted the NGO president Abeer as saying.
On January 2, the Courage donated stationary and grocery items among 500 orphans at JK Yateem Khana (Raahat Manzil), Chattabal, the statement added.
