“BJP has initiated the treatment that it envisages to adopt in all its future dispensation towards people of the Valley. This step-motherly step is going to have far-reaching consequences on the economy and well-being of the people of the Valley irrespective of their political, religious or economic affiliations,” the traders’ amalgam said in a press statement issued here.
It said the Food Corporation of India (FCI), has had a uniform policy towards Kashmir and Ladakh regions since its inception in 1964.
“Its policy has remained steadfastly uniform, practical and humane. But it is only with the takeover of BJP in the centre that the discriminatory and inhuman face of the government has blatantly come to the forefront.”
It said Kashmir doesn’t produce flour, which is a part of the people’s daily diet in the Valley.
Yet, it said, “The valley flour mills, which supply flour to all bakers of the Valley finds itself on the brink of extinction. Presently about 2.5 lakh quintals of flour per month supplied to the Valley bakers,” it said.
