NC committed to rehabilitate flood victims: Sagar

SRINAGAR: Senior National Conference Leader and Party General Secretary Advocate Ali Mo¬hammad Sagar Saturday said the party stands by its com¬mitment to solve the problems of the flood victims till they are rehabilitated completely.
Addressing workers and party activists of Srinagar city as well as different dis¬tricts of the valley Sagar made it clear that NC will fight hard to provide relief to the flood victims in or out¬side the power.
“The biggest issue and the challenge for us these days is the rehabilitation of flood vic¬tims who are living miserable lives since the catastrophe hit the Kashmir valley, causing destruction all around, the maximum impact of which was witnessed in parts of Srinagar city,” Sagar said, ad¬dressing the gathering.
He said party has main¬tained regular contacts with the divisional administra¬tion continuously since the September deluge to listen and to solve the grievances of the flood victims.
“The rehabilitation of the flood victims is our top con¬cern as hundreds of flood af¬fected are still homeless today in this bone-chilling cold,” Sagar said.
Referring to the dilapidat¬ed condition of the roads espe¬cially Srinagar to Anantnag road, Sagar urged the admin¬istration to repair the roads as soon as possible as thou¬sands remained stranded in the traffic jam for hours.
“In case, considering the weather condition in the val¬ley, if macadamising roads is difficult, then the administra¬tion should go for filling the roads with gravel, which can help in minimising the traffic jams on Jammu-Srinagar Na¬tional highway,” he said.
He said since the incep¬tion of NC, party has worked for the welfare of people of all three regions of the state.
